2021 IPL auction – Indian Players Registered
On 18th February 2021, 814 homegrown Indian players will feature in the mini-auction scheduled in Chennai, out of which only 61 of them will come under the hammer, including foreign players. The IPL auction looks promising and is expected to be quite engaging, considering the big names that have signed up for the same. Sreesanth, who was caught in a spot-fixing scandal, is eligible to make his comeback in this edition of IPL after serving seven years of ban from all forms of cricket. The former Rajasthan Royals fast bowler can swing the ball both ways and is capable of maintaining pressure on the batsman. He has registered himself in this year’s IPL and is already being eyed by few teams as per speculation.
Another big name that is catching everyone’s attention galore is Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar. The 21-year-old left-handed fast bowler, who has recently made his T20 debut for Mumbai in Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy against Haryana, will have teams trying to get him under the hammer.
Indian test specialists such as Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari, whose significant contributions in the Border-Gavaskar test series helped India retain the trophy for the third time, have registered themselves in this year’s IPL. Cheteswar Pujara, who has previously played for Kings XI Punjab in 2014, has not featured in an IPL since then. Hanuma Vihari was also not part of the previous edition of IPL as he eyed for the Australia tour ahead of it.
Other prominent Indian players include Harbhajan Singh, Kedar Jadav, Mohit Sharma, Umesh Yadav.
With a pool of 1047 players registered and enlisted in the ipl auction, it would be a memorable event to see the players setting themselves up for this year’s IPL. Talents that stretch from local to international have always gifted us with some terrific moments to savor. We wish them all the luck for the upcoming auction. We hope all the deserving players find themselves under the magnificent spotlight that the world’s biggest T-20 league provides!
