Jaiswal Can Break Virat THREE Massive Records In IND vs ENG 5th Test 2024

Jaiswal can break Virat records

Indian cricket team star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal can break Virat Kohli’s records in the upcoming 5th test match against England that starts on 7th March 2024 (Thursday) at HPCA Stadium, Dharamshala.

The 22-year-old left-handed batsman delivered a stunning performance in the ongoing 5-match test series. He is the leading run scorer of the test series by scoring 655 runs in 4 matches.

Yashasvi Jaiswal started the series with an outstanding performance of 80 runs from 74 balls (including 10 fours and 3 sixes) in the first test at Hyderabad.  Also, he scored two double hundreds in the same series. Consequently, Yashasvi achieved his career best score in tests by backing up with these scores after the first innings of the opening test match:

  • 1st test (2nd innings): 15 runs from 35 balls (including 2 fours)
  • 2nd test (1st innings): 209 runs from 290 balls (including 19 fours and 7 sixes
  • 2nd test (2nd innings): 17 runs from 27 balls ( including 3 fours)
  • 3rd test (1st innings): 10 runs from 10 balls ( including 2 fours)
  • 3rd test (2nd innings): 214 runs from 236 balls (including 14 fours and 12 sixes)
  • 4th test (1st innings): 73 runs from 117 balls (including 8 fours and 1 six)
  • 4th test (2nd innings): 37 runs from 44 balls (including 5 fours)

Furthermore, Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed a world record of 23 sixes, which is indeed the highest by any batsman in a bilateral series in test history.

By striking another six, Yashasvi Jaiswal can break Virat Kohli’s record as well as surpass Sunil Gavaskar’s lifetime records.

How Yashasvi Jaiswal can break Virat Kohli’s Records: 3 MASSIVE Records to be broken by the young cricketer!

Here is how Yashasvi Jaiswal can break Virat Kohli’s record and create a massive sensation in the fifth and final test match against England:

1. Maximum Runs in Test Series against England:

Yashasvi Jaiswal currently tallies with Virat Kohli in terms of maximum runs in a bilateral test series against England. By scoring just a run, Yashasvi Jaiswal can break Virat Kohli’s records and become the highest run scorer for Team India in a test series against England.

Earlier, Virat Kohli scored 655 runs in the 5-match test series against England in 2016.

2. Most Runs by any batsman in a Test Series:

Previously, Virat Kohli scored 692 runs against Australia in the 2014-15 test series, which was the most by any Indian batsman.

Yashasvi Jaiswal can break Virat Kohli’s records if he scores an additional 38 runs to secure the third position in the charts of maximum runs for India in the test series. Currently, the legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar occupies the first two spots ( 774 and 732 runs).

If Yashasvi Jaiswal manages to score 45 runs or more, he will join the elite group of these batsmen who have established a record of 700+ runs in the India vs England test series:

  1. Graham Gooch (ENGLAND): 752 in 1990
  2. Joe Root (ENGLAND): 737 runs in 2021-22

Interestingly, Yashasvi Jaiswal needs 120 runs to become India’s highest-scoring batsman in the bilateral test series. By doing so, he can easily surpass Sunil Gavaskar’s lifetime record (774 runs against West Indies in 1971).

Notably, Yashasvi will become the second Indian batsman to score 700+ runs in a single test series.

3. Highest number of Centuries by any batsman in a Test Series:

Both Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal have scored double hundreds against England and holds the equal records of two centuries in a single test series, which is the highest by any Indian batsman.

Yashasvi Jaiswal can break Virat Kohli’s records if he scores a century in the fifth test against the Three Lions. As a result, Yashasvi will become the third highest joint-scorer alongside Rahul Dravid and Mohammad Azharuddin who have earlier scored three centuries each against England.

Yashasvi Jaiswal can break Virat Kohli’s records: Challenges at Dharamshala

Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored 971 runs in the WTC 2023-25 championship cycle. He still requires just 29 runs to become the first batsman to score 1000 runs in the WTC cycle.

Though Yashasvi Jaiswal can break Virat Kohli’s records, there are certain challenges that he needs to overcome during the 5th test match at Dharamshala:

  • Possibilities of Day 1 of the test match getting interrupted due to rain showers.
  • Challenging to bat in freezing conditions.
  • Frequent interruptions due to unfavourable weather conditions.
  • Familiar weather conditions for England bowlers

However, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a half century against Punjab Kings in IPL 2023 at Dharamshala. It remains to be seen how the young cricketer can deliver his best performance in tricky conditions.

Also, Jaiswal has struck maximum sixes (26 sixes) in the WTC cycle. Yet, there is another record that needs to be achieved. At present, Yashasvi and Usman Khawaja hit 103 fours in the WTC cycle. Finally, Yashasvi needs a boundary to claim another exceptional record.
