One of the teams that have had strong lineups featuring plenty of prominent names but have not yet won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title is Delhi Capitals. Despite this, the team still needs to win an IPL championship. But Delhi has become a solid team in the last few years, significantly since the franchise was changed entirely in 2018.
Last season, DC finished in fifth place after being close to the top for the two seasons before that. They have a lot of players who can win games, but they need help to string together wins in the IPL 2022. The Capitals have everything they need for IPL 2023, but they need a few good backups for some of their players since IPL seasons are long.
Let’s look at their current team, the players they got rid of, and the money they still have.

IPL 2023: Players in Delhi Capitals (DC) can try to get
Cameron Green
At the IPL 2023 auction, Cameron Green is likely to be among the most expensive players. The Australian all-rounder was terrific with the bat when Australia played three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in India in 2022. He hit 118 runs at a strike rate of 214.54, a fantastic display of power hitting.
Also, Green is an excellent medium-speed runner and will be a good backup for Mitchell Marsh, who gets hurt. The head coach of the Delhi Capitals, Ricky Ponting, loves Australian players. He has also hinted that the team may be interested in the all-rounder. But it will be interesting to see how they fit Green into the XI.
Bas de Leede
Bas de Leede is the Netherlands’ number three batter, and he bowls all of his overs with his handy medium-pace. He would be an excellent choice for the Delhi Capitals as a backup for Mitchell Marsh because he can bat aggressively at number three and bowl four overs when things are tight at the beginning and end of the game.
Since MI Cape Town already signed De Leede for the SA20, he will likely only go for a bit of money in the IPL auction. He could be an excellent choice for DC.
Luvnith Sisodiya
After letting go of KS Bharath, DC needs a good wicketkeeper from India. Luvnith Sisodiya is an excellent choice. He hasn’t played much domestic cricket, but those who follow Indian cricket closely think highly of him.
Sisodia worked for RCB up until a year ago. He bats with his left hand and can be a good backup for Rishabh Pant. The wicketkeeper for Karnataka also went to the trials held by the Delhi Capitals.
David Wiese
David Wiese has done well in T20 cricket every time. He is one of the best all-rounders and could be a good choice for the Delhi Capitals, who need players who can finish games. DC’s only known finisher right now is Rovman Powell, and if he gets hurt or doesn’t do well, it could be game over for them.
Wiese can fill that role and gives the bowling team more options. In the T20s in 2022, he scored 444 runs at an excellent strike rate of 172.8 and an average of 26.1. He has also taken 28 wickets in 29 games, which is 8.30 runs per wicket.
Conclusion
Even before the auction, the Delhi Capitals looked like they had a good team. David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Marsh, Anrich Nortje, and many other good players are on their team. But if DC has a few good backup players, it can use a more significant number of good players throughout the season.
