No fans are allowed inside the stadium due to increased restrictions from the government to curb the spread of Covid-19.

RR vs KKR – Match Preview

The Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai has been quite a low scoring pitch in this IPL and given the performances of these two teams in this season the game might not be a high scoring one. The clay like hard and rough pitch will provide a greater bounce for the bowlers and scope for hitting big sixes for the batsmen.

RCB dominate the IPL table and have cemented their position on top. Mumbai Indians’ recent loss to Punjab Kings have kept them from climbing the table any further. CSK and DC sit on second and third respectively.

Rajasthan Royals Team News

Rajasthan’s relentless efforts to keep themselves alive in the competition is nearing to a disastrous end in every match. Royal Challengers Bangalore whitewashed Sanju Samson and his men as they chased down 177 runs in 16.3 overs without losing a wicket. An almost half-decent score put up by the trailing batting lineup of Rajasthan was made looks like a cakewalk for Virat Kohli and Devdutt Paddikal. The opening order of the blues were sent back in the early hours of the game. RCB made way for an exasperated Sanju Samson in the pitch. Samson who has not performed well since his first match; tried a few big shots making his presence quite vulnerable for the Bangalore bowlers. It was ultimately Washington Sundar’s ball that he miscued and eventually fell into the hands of Glenn Maxwell.

Riyan Parag, and Rahul Tewatia were the ones who rescued Rajasthan from their miserable state where climbing to a team total of 100 seemed a distant dream.

Nevertheless, Rajasthan’s struggles went downhill as their bowlers could not find a way to get past the brawny Bangalore openers.

Predicted Eleven– Jos Buttler(Overseas), Manan Vohra,  Mustafizur Rahman(Overseas), Riyan Parag, Chris Morris(Overseas); David Miller(Overseas), Rahul Tewatia, Shivam Dube, Chetan Sakariya, Jaydev Unadkat, Sanju Samson (C & WK),.

Kolkata Knight Riders Team News

Kolkata Knight Riders’ decision to invite their foes to bat first went south with Faf du Plessis’ 95 of 60 balls. A staggering inning from this South African beat all of Kolkata’s bowling strategies and anchored his team to a mammoth 220 runs. This was Kolkata’s second time in this IPL when their valiant efforts to chase a 200 plus score ended in vain. Pat Cummins who conceded the most runs in 4 overs and had an economy of 14.50 runs was the ultimate beacon of hope in Kolkata. Chennai wiped out KKR’s entire opening order and struggled when Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthick picked up their game.

The terror caused by Pat Cummins who hit Sam Curran 30 runs in a single over was on every CSK player who thought winning the match would be a walk in the park.

Although KKR lost the match after a tremendous comeback into the game where they mathematically equalled CSK runs in the last over; their batting lacked some serious game plan.

Four of their best batsmen fell in the powerplay over trying to go for big shots around the ground. Kolkata needs to play well and bring the best out of their squad especially when they have such prolific batting order who could have won them the match.

Predicted Eleven- Shubman Gill, Prasidh Krishna, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Sunil Narine(Overseas), Eoin Morgan (c)(Overseas), Andre Russell(Overseas), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Rahul Tripathi, Pat Cummins(Overseas), Varun Chakravarthy, Nitish Rana.

RR vs KKR – Key Stats

Kolkata Knight Riders outplay Rajasthan Royals with 12 wins in 23 matches and one game yielding no result. Although this year none of the above-mentioned teams’ dominance is visible. Both of them have just won one out of the last four matches they have played. In the previous season; KKR won both the legs against Rajasthan and will be looking forward to doing the same this year. Therefore, Sanju Samson has scored the most number of runs(205) in this fixture followed by Andre Russell and Jos Butler. Sunil Narine who featured in the previous match will probably be seen again. As he has been the highest wicket-taker for KKR against Rajasthan Royals. Hence, the previous season saw captain Eoin Morgan anchor Kolkata to victory with an amazing 68 runs of 35 balls.

In conclusion, two underperforming teams face each other in a crucial game where both of them will be desperate to grab a win to keep themselves alive in the competition
