RCB vs KKR – Match Preview

The M.A Chidambaram, also known as Chepauk is a complete batting paradise. Although a few bowling spectacles have been seen in this IPL where the teams were bundled for a few hundred runs; one can never predict what would happen in the next match. The shorter boundary length drives the batsmen to go for bigger shots and thus leaves a chance of getting caught.

Kolkata Knight Riders Team News

Eoin Morgan and his team were handed an embarrassing defeat on Tuesday by Mumbai Indians. Kolkata’s amazing display of bowling jeopardized all of Mumbai’s efforts to score runs. The entire batting lineup was sent walking back to the pavilion by the West Indian Andre Russell as he picked five wickets in just two overs into the game. Varun Chakravarthy, Pat Cummins, and their brand new acquisition Shakib Al Hasan maintained a commendable economic rate against the deadly Mumbai. Alas, Kolkata could not make the most out of it in the end. They were unable to chase down 152 runs and slowly fell into the grasp of Mumbai’s bowlers. It was only Subhman Gill and Nitish Rana who continued to perform till the end until Rana was dismissed at 57 by Rahul Chahar.

The upcoming match against Bangalore will need the finishing touch that Kolkata lacked in the previous match. No major changes are expected in the squad.

Predicted Eleven– Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Andre Russell(Overseas), Eoin Morgan(c)(Overseas), Pat Cummins(Overseas), Dinesh Karthik(w), Shakib Al Hasan(Overseas), Rahul Tripathi, Harbhajan Singh, Varun Chakravarthy Prasidh Krishna.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Team News

Royal Challengers Bangalore have their flags flying as high as they could be. Virat Kohli and his team registered two wins out of the two matches they have played. They are the only team in this years’ IPL who are yet to lose a match. Bangalore showed their true potential and class by coming from behind and winning their previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Despite handing them a low total, Bangalore managed to win the match by 143 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed picked 3 wickets in just two overs and conceded only 7 runs. His phenomenal display of bowling in tough situations is proof enough why his position in the team is cemented. Glenn Maxwell picked the baton for his team yet again and scored a vital 59, the maximum by any RCB player on Wednesday.

Royal Challengers are in a red-hot form this season and will look ahead to continue this unbeaten run in their coming games. No changes are expected in the playing eleven.

Predicted Eleven– Virat Kohli(c), Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Devdutt Padikkal, AB de Villiers(w)(Overseas), Glenn Maxwell(Overseas), Yuzvendra Chahal, Kyle Jamieson(Overseas), Daniel Christian(Overseas), Harshal Patel.

RCB vs KKR – Key Stats

KKR have an edge over RCB with 14 wins out of the 26 times they have clashed against each other. One of Kolkata Knight Rider’s most astonishing moments in IPL has been in 2017; when they defended a low total of 131 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore as they sent the entire team back to the pavilion in 9.4 overs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore registered the lowest total in the history of IPL by scoring 49 runs as the team crumbled down by every fall of a wicket. RCB has been able to take their share of revenge in 2019; when Virat Kohli smashed 100 in just 58 balls against KKR. RCB scored a whopping 213 runs and KKR almost closed the gap but just fell short of 10 runs in the end. This could be Virat Kohli’s favorite fixture as he has scored the most runs(725) against KKR. Last season RCB won both the fixtures against KKR in a very dominating fashion and are favorites to do the same this year as well.

An interesting fixture that has a lot of history and tough rivalry between the two teams. The match will surely test the patience of the viewers before it has a winner.
