PBKS vs DC – Match Preview

Narendra Modi Stadium, previously named Motera is a batsman’s paradise with a few green patches. The pacers get a bit of wind behind the ball and that can be a big problem for KL Rahul’s side, given Delhi Capitals’ dangerous bowling. The toss becomes a deciding factor in this ground as every team will look forward to bowl first. Punjab’s inconsistent batting side is an open wound to the bowling front Delhi has.

CSK suffered a loss in the hands of Mumbai Indians yesterday, but that does not budge them from the top position. Delhi Capitals, RCB and Mumbai Indians occupy the second, third, and fourth positions.

Punjab Kings Team News

Punjab pulled off the unthinkable on Thursday, by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 34 runs. KL Rahul and his boys emerged the better team of the two on the field as they very comfortably managed to prevent Bangalore to chase 180 runs. RCB who were on the top of the table without and did not suffer any defeat have fallen behind to the third place with two embarrassing losses. Punjab’s batting order which lacked consistency saw KL Rahul’s staggering 91 runs in 57 balls make all the difference.

An indispensable inning from the captain took the team total to 179 runs in the end of 20 overs; which became quite a mammoth run chase for Bangalore. The Narendra Modi Stadium’s boundary length has been the most testing factor for the batsmen. It becomes very difficult for players to send the ball across the rope and get quick runs. Punjab scored 24 boundaries in total and displayed why they are still in contention to get into the title race. Harpreet Brar was another player who stood out with this batting as well bowling. Brar picked up 3 wickets and maintained a surprising economy rate of 4.80; emerged as the man of the match for his team.

Facing Delhi Capitals will be another big match for Punjab and winning against them would be another big leap. Already in the fifth position, a win on Sunday might let them enter the bracket of top four.

Predicted Eleven– Mayank Agarwal, Shahrukh Khan, KL Rahul (C & WK), Deepak Hooda, Chris Gayle(Overseas); Harpreet Brar, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Nicholas Pooran(Overseas), Chris Jordan(Overseas).

Delhi Capitals Teams News

Capitals very comfortably madeway into the match against Kolkata Knight Riders as if they were the obvious victors of the game. Delhi invited KKR to bat first and one by one nullified all the threats which could have led the match to go out of hand for them. A wonderful display of composure and the winning mentality they possess, gave them the edge over KKR; whose form has recently been very miserable.

Delhi chased down 154 runs in 20 overs with 7 wickets to spare in the end. Prithvi Shaw’s six back to back boundaries in the very first over of the match was what seemed to damage KKR’s bowling strategies very poorly as Shaw went on to hit 82 runs in 41 balls.

Delhi who lost the previous match were back into action with more hunger and passion on Thursday.

Delhi will not take Punjab lightly as they have been victorious against some big teams this year and may as well cause harm to them.

Predicted Eleven–  Lalit Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, Avesh Khan, Marcus Stoinis(Overseas), Shimron Hetmyer(Overseas), Steve Smith(Overseas), Rishabh Pant (C & WK); Ishant Sharma, Axar Patel, Kagiso Rabada(Overseas), Shikhar Dhawan,.

PBKS vs DC – Key Stats

The second installment of this fixture in this years’ IPL will see Rishab Pant and his men clash against the Punjab Kings. The first fixture ended on a high note and was an end-to-end match where Delhi chased down 198 runs in just 18.2 overs. Although that has given an edge to Rishabh Pant’s side, Delhi still lags behind while running head to head against Punjab. They come off second best with 12 wins in 27 matches. KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal will be much more ferocious this time. As both of their quality innings was outplayed by Prithvi Shaw’s 92 runs in 49 balls. Hopefully, this will be another close call.

Conclusion

This will be an interesting match to see and will keep the fans glued to their television sets
