The fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League, the IPL 2021 was suspended midway due to the rapid spread of the pandemic in India, where it was being held this time. The Indian Premier League 2020 was held in the United Arab Emirates due to the pandemic in India, and thus many were looking forward to the 2021 edition being held at home.

However, that did not materialize entirely due to the pandemic. The Indian Premier League 2021 will resume on the 19th of September, 2021 at the Dubai International Stadium. The announcement regarding the resumption of the IPL 2021 was made much earlier, back in June 2021. Now the final details of the fixtures and matches shall be published now. Fans shall be surely be extremely happy at the resumption of the Indian Premier League. Let us have a look at the various details of the resumption of the Indian Premier League.


The Dubai International Stadium, which shall be hosting this match shall see another 12 games being played. A total of 31 games shall be played in the course of the second leg of the tournament. The Sharjah Stadium shall host 10 games and Abu Dhabi shall see 8 games being played. The Sharjah Stadium will host all the teams on two occasions at least. The Sheikh Zayed Stadium of Abu Dhabi had acted as the home ground of the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Mumbai Indians in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League.

These two teams will play three matches each at this particular stadium.  There are a total of seven double-headers that will be played in the course of the second leg of the tournament. The first game of the double-header shall begin at 3:30 pm IST while the second game shall start at 7:30 pm IST. Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders shall play two-afternoon games each while the Delhi Capitals shall participate in three such games. The Delhi Capitals are also leading the points table.

Schedule and teams

The second phase of the IPL 2021 shall begin with the league games. These games shall continue till the 8th of October, 2021; and the final game will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. This shall be followed by the first qualifier; which shall be held on the 10th of October in Dubai International Stadium. The eliminator and the second qualifier shall be played at Sharjah on the 11th and the 13th of October. The Indian Premier League 2021 will end on the 15th of October; 2021 with the final match being held in Dubai.

Points table

A quick look at the points table would be enough to confirm why the resumption of the tournament can promise good, interesting cricket. While the Delhi Capitals is certainly leading the table; the Chennai Super Kings is not far behind in the second spot. The Mumbai Indians is at the fourth spot; and thus the resuming match will certainly be a tough contest between the two. The Royal Challengers Bangalore, on the other hand, are placed third. The Mumbai Indians have eight points from seven matches while the Chennai Super Kings 10 points from seven matches. There are a lot of predictions about who will win this edition of the tournament. Some have predicted that the Chennai Super Kings will win while many have predicted the Royal Challengers Bangalore to be the winners.
