CSK vs RR – Match Preview
Wankhede will host Chennai Super Kings lock horns against the underdogs, Rajasthan Royals. A dry and hard batting paradise will have one expect scores to soar as high as it could be. Although that could not be the case, given the past few matches which have seen team totals hit as low as 106. But predictability is something that a game like IPL does not possess hence the game can go in any direction; given the powerful bowling status, both teams have.
Chennai Super Kings News
Chennai Super Kings wiped out Punjab King’s woeful batting lineup for 107 runs in 20 overs in their previous match. Chennai’s cricketing prowess finally blasted off and they managed to look as dangerous as they have been all these years. Deepak Chahar, their star-bowler in the match picked up 4 wickets and conceded only 13 runs after bowling 4 overs. The right arm-medium bowler was the most dreadful player on the pitch after he got the wickets of big hitters like Chris Gayle, Hooda, and Nicolas Pooran. It was only Shah Rukh Khan who could get himself past the twenty-run mark. Chennai’s valiant efforts successfully made Punjab look as miserable as it could be.
The match was an easy win for Chennai, Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis’s partnership saw the game through for the team. Deepak Chahar and Moeen Ali are in red-hot form this IPL. Chennai’s gamble to play Moeen Ali in the top order has paid off in two consecutive matches.
The previous match will definitely be a confidence booster for Chennai as they have registered themselves as serious contenders for the trophy. No major changes are expected in the lineup.
Predicted Eleven– Faf Du Plessis(Overseas), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C and WK); Dwayne Bravo(Overseas), Deepak Chahar, Moeen Ali(Overseas), Sam Curran(Overseas), Shardul Thakur, Suresh Raina.
Rajasthan Royals Team News
Rajasthan Royals were able to add a big win to their name as they defeated the very powerful Delhi Capitals in their previous match. The herculean batting lineup of Delhi was prevented from scoring and could go as far as 150 runs into the match. Rajasthan introduced Jaydev Unadkat into their playing eleven and his inclusion turned out to be the end of Delhi’s opening order. Unadkat picked up 3 wickets, all of them during the powerplay; and sent all the stalwarts of the game back to the pavilion.
The entire match looked like a cakewalk for Rajasthan as they crumbled all of Delhi’s efforts to get a formidable score into pieces. Their batting was not as lethal as their bowling; for a moment it seemed like the match was falling out of their hands. It was Chris Morris, the most expensive player of the IPL; who finished the game in style and got Rajasthan what was theirs, a hard-fought win.
Sanju Samson will be looking ahead to do the same against the very likes of another strong team who look like serious title contenders this season.
Predicted Eleven– Jaydev Unadkat, Manan Vohra, Rahul Tewatia, Sanju Samson (C & WK), Jos Buttler(Overseas); David Miller(Overseas), Riyan Parag, Mustafizur Rahman(Overseas), Chris Morris(Overseas), Shivam Dube, Chetan Sakariya.
CSK vs RR – Key Stats
Chennai Super Kings are the obvious victors when it comes to a head-to-head against Rajasthan Royals. The men in blue come off second best with only 9 wins out of the 23 matches played between them. The previous season Rajasthan won both games against this mighty yellow outfit and will hopefully be looking forward to doing the same this season as well. Josh Butler and Steve Smith had themselves a match-winning partnership of 98 runs in the second game of that season. Suresh Raina has scored the most runs(638) in this fixture and is in fine form this season. Chennai’s average score against Rajasthan is 163 runs and given the batting pitch, Chennai will hopefully try to do better.
The underdogs of the game have a tough test ahead of them. A test in which if they manage to emerge victors will have a lot of questions tossed at Chennai and their IPL record. It will be interesting to see such a clash between them.
