Amid intense speculations surrounding his international future, Dhoni is expected to begin training from March 2 along with his CSK teammates in Chennai.

MS Dhoni has not played competitive cricket since India’s World Cup 2019 exit in July last year. As pointed out by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and India head coach Ravi Shastri, Dhoni’s international future depends on his performances in IPL 2020 which comes in the lead up to this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia.

According to CSK CEO K S Viswanathan, Dhoni will be training with players who are available as the full preparatory camp of the team begins on March 19.

Former India captain Dhoni is expected to practice for a couple of weeks with the likes of Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu among others. He would then take a break before returning, according to a Press Trust of India report.

Raina and Rayudu have been training here for the past three weeks.

The IPL 2020 begins with a match between CSK and defending champion Mumbai Indians in Mumbai on March 29.
