England was initially leading the series 2-1 after winning the first and the third match of the series. India made a fantastic comeback in the fourth match of the T20I series and evened out the series. The fifth and final match shall thus be the series decider, and thus there shall be a lot of expectations from the game. Both India and England fans will be glued to their television and mobile screens for this match. Let us have a look at what this match exactly entails and how it might go.
The T20I series till now
This T20I series is the second one that is being held in the England tour of India. The tour had begun with a four-match test series which India had won 3-1. England had begun the series with a lot of confidence and expectations after having won the first match; but India made a strong comeback in the subsequent matches to finally seal the series. England thus has been seeking to redeem itself in the course of the T20I series. It won the very first match riding on its excellent bowling performance which restricted India to 123. The next match was won by India, in which two players played particularly well – Virat Kohli and Ishan Kishan. While Kohli scored a brilliant unbeaten 73 off 49 balls; debutante Kishan drew a lot of accolades for his brilliant 56 off 32 balls. Even Virender Sehwag praised him profusely for his innings.
The fourth match of the T20I series was won by India by 8 runs. Batting first, India put up a challenging target of 185 runs on the board. Suryakumar Yadav led the team from the front with a brilliant 57 off 31 balls that was studded with 3 sixes and 6 fours. Defeating England was not an easy job given that India had five bowlers along with dew complicating their bowling plans. However, the Indian bowlers pulled off a brilliant performance in the course of the second innings. Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up the wicket of Jos Buttler early on to harm England’s chances. Hardik Pandya bowled well and picked up two wickets while Shardul Thakur added three wickets to his tally. Rahul Chahar also picked up two. Ben Stokes, with his prolific 46 off 23 balls, was the top scorer of the English innings.
There has been no concrete news that has been made available for the upcoming T20I match. However, it is expected that India will stick to the ongoing team given its success. Suryakumar Yadav has been particularly good in the last match and other youngsters like Ishan Kishan too appear to be promising. KL Rahul might be dropped given his poor form as of late and Ishan Kishan might be drafted in at his place. Shreyas Iyer had a decent match, as did Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya and so they are likely to continue for the next match.
England also a has a very good team. Jason Roy and Jos Buttler have been in good form, and Ben Stokes also has been playing good innings. Jofra Archer has been quite accurate with his bowling and his accuracy has significantly boosted the chances of the English team.
There has not been any news available on the pitch so far. Since the match shall be held on the same pitch where it shall be held earlier, some predictions can still be made. In the previous matches, the ball was not coming on to the bat in the beginning. The pitch was becoming more suitable for batting in the second innings of the game. It is expected that the same conditions will persist even in the next match.
India and England are both going to participate in the T20I World Cup that shall be held in India in October this year. Because of this, both teams have been treating this series as a dry run-up to the World Cup. The stakes are thus quite high in the last match. The intense competition between this final match will certainly promise a good game of cricket
Prediction – Back India to win the T20 Series against England.
