India vs England 3rd test 2024 Preview

India vs England 3rd test 2024 Preview: With 3 more games remaining to decide the series winner, the 5-match test series between India and England is leveled with 1-1. Ahead of the 3rd test match, the Indian cricket team assembled at Rajkot by receiving a grand welcome at Sayaji Hotel on February 11th, 2024 (Sunday). The entire squad will be accommodated there till 19th February 2024 (Monday)

After a long break, both teams will compete with each other in the 3rd test match that starts on 15th February 2024 (Thursday) at SCA stadium, Rajkot.

The England tour of India 2024 began with the Three Lions securing a valiant victory against the hosts with the “Bazball” approach. However, the men-in-blue bounced back in the 2nd test match at Vizag by registering a 106-run win.

Both the teams will be desperate to win at Rajkot after having a long break and aim to take a lead in the series with 2-1.

Especially, after losing the first test match at Hyderabad by 28 runs, Team India dropped to the third position in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table. The only chance for India to secure the 2nd position in the WTC points table is by winning the remaining 3 matches of the test series against England.

However, Virat Kohli remains unavailable for the entire series due to personal reasons, which will be a big blow for Team India. Also, when compared to the first two tests, the Indian team squads have changed for the last three test matches. Contrarily, England’s squad remains unchanged.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul make a comeback into the squad after injury. But, the participation is yet to be confirmed by receiving a fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team.

India vs England 3rd test 2024 Preview: Pitch Conditions

The batting-friendly pitch conditions at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, maintain a record of 539 average runs in T20Is.

Especially, a batsman can score huge runs instantly due to the nature of the pitch and the shorter dimensions of the ground. At the same time, the bowlers will have a tough time. As the match progresses in two days, the spin bowlers can create a huge impact.

Moreover, Team India boasts an unbeaten record at the SCA stadium. Out of the two test matches played here, India concluded with a draw result against England in 2016 and won against West Indies in 2018.
