Brilliant performance in the last test

Rohit Sharma has received the fans of Indian cricket worldwide for his performance in the last test match. He had played against England in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad which was held from the 24th to the 25th of February, 2021. The match ended in two days, with wickets falling at a quick progression bizarrely.

India won the match, with spinners Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin running through the batting order of the visitors. Among the batsmen who shone in the match was Rohit Sharma, who put up a brilliant half-century in the first innings of India and an unbeaten 25 in the second innings to steer India to victory. He  was among the two batsmen who were able to score half-centuries in the test. The pitch was extremely difficult to navigate for the batsmen due to its unpredictability. Batsmen seemed almost lost trying to read the direction of the ball on the pitch and seven wickets fell because batsmen were either getting bowled or were getting trapped with their leg before the wicket.

The test just ended in two days because of the inability of any of the batsmen to stick around for a long time. Rohit Sharma’s performance thus stood out among that of the others. In fact, cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar has come out in defence of the Ahmedabad pitch citing Sharma’s brilliant batting performance. He alleged that most of the batsmen got out because of their inability to play good shots all throughout the course of the match. He lauded Rohit Sharma mindset for being able to stick to his wicket and score the runs in the way that he did.

Rohit Sharma Consistency in tests

Rohit Sharma is a batsmen who has been making rapid improvements in test cricket for quite some time. Sharma made his debut in test cricket in 2013, and despite faltering a few times.
