42 Balls taken by Zazai to reach his maiden T20I century – the third fastest in terms of balls faced after 35-ball tons by David Miller against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom and by Rohit Sharma against Sri Lanka in Indore, both coming in the year 2017.

16 Sixes hit by Zazai in his 62-ball knock – the most ever in a T20I surpassing 14 maximums by Aaron Finch against England in Southampton in 2013. In the inaugural edition of Afghanistan Premier League in Sharjah last year, he hit six consecutive sixes in an over.

22 sixes smashed by Afghanistan in their innings is the most ever in a T20I, bettering 21 each by Windies against India in Lauderhill in 2016 and by India against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017. There is only one instance of more hits over the fence in all T20s – 23 by Balkh Legends against Kabul Zwanan in Sharjah last October.

3 This was the third instance of both teams putting up a 100-plus opening stand in a T20I. Alongside Zazai and Ghani who scored 236 for Afghanistan, Paul Stirling and Kevin O’Brien added 126 for the first wicket for Ireland. The previous instances were: New Zealand against Australia in Auckland last February and Ireland against Scotland in Al Amerat last week.

9 Consecutive wins for Afghanistan in T20I – the joint second best in the format. The record is held by Afghanistan itself who won 11 in a row between March 2016 and 2017. They are currently sitting level in the second spot alongside Pakistan who also had nine successive wins between July and November last year.

24 Wickets taken by Rashid Khan against Ireland in T20Is – the most for any bowler against an opponent in T20I. He surpassed Shahid Afridi’s 21 wickets during his spell of 4/25. Rashid’s 24 wickets against Ireland have come in just nine matches at an average of 7.58.

Brief scores: Afghanistan 278/3 in 20 overs (Hazratullah Zazai 162*) beat Ireland194/6 in 20 overs (Paul Stirling 91; Rashid Khan 4-25) by 84 runs.
