Hardik Pandya Expresses His Opinion to PM Modi on Getting Booed in IPL 2024

Team India’s all-rounder and vice-captain Hardik Pandya on Thursday (4th July 2024) expressed his feelings to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on how he managed to maintain silence with the abuse he received a few months back in the IPL 2024.

Currently, the 30-year-old cricketer is being hailed by all fans. But what about his situation a few months back?

The Mumbai Indians skipper was booed not only in other venues in India but also at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai as well before making a comeback in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Hardik had to face severe hatred from fans on social media during the IPL 2024 season after the Mumbai Indians (MI) management shockingly named him as the captain by replacing the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Rather than receiving praise, the new MI captain started getting booed and made fun of by spectators at each venue where his team played during the tournament and this affected his performance in the entire season.

In contrast to his leadership skills in the previous two seasons for Gujarat Titans (GT), Hardik Pandya had to undergo a disastrous season. Mainly, the 5-time defending champions Mumbai Indians team under his captaincy finished at the bottom position in the IPL 2024 points table with just 4 wins out of 14 games and secured only 8 points and -0.318 net-run-rate (NRR), and became eliminated from the tournament.

Hardik Pandya Expresses his feelings to PM Modi: Says the IPL 2024 was the Difficult Phase of His Career

While speaking to PM Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi, Hardik Pandya revealed that he didn’t lose his calmness by responding to the critics even after facing a difficult phase in his career. Rather he decided that his performance would give the best response:

“Yeah, it was very tough! Although the previous six months have been very entertaining for me, at the same time there were a lot of highs and lows in my career. Especially, a huge number of spectators booed me. A lot of unexpected things happened in my life and I felt that if I had to give any perfect reply it would be through my sporting talent. I believed that I had to stay strong and work hard to overcome the criticism”, said Hardik Pandya.

Hardik Pandya’s success in T20 World Cup 2024: Best Reply to all Critics

With 144 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 151.57 and 11 wickets in 8 innings, Hardik Pandya played the role of a perfect all-rounder. Especially, in the finals Hardik’s excellent bowling figures of 3-20 in 3 overs became the turning point of the match. Also, he dismissed the South African batter Heinrich Klaasen in the finals, who single-handedly threatened India’s chances of winning the T20 World Cup by playing a destructive knock of 52 runs from just 27 balls (including 2 fours and 5 sixes).

Most importantly, the last over of the match where South Africa required 16 runs to win with David Miller on strike was the pressurizing moment of the game. However, Hardik Pandya took 2 crucial wickets of David Miller and Kagiso Rabada’s in that over by conceding 8 runs. But, it was possible due to the spectacular catches of Suryakumar Yadav in that over, which made Hardik Pandya a national hero and opened a new chapter in his cricketing career.

Fans Started To Cheer Hardik’s Name

As the Indian all-rounder reached the Mumbai Airport by carrying the World Cup trophy, a huge crowd gathered chanting Hardik’s name. It was the proudest moment for Hardik Pandya after scripting one of the historical victories for Team India. The same Indian cricketer was considered as a villain during his captaincy with Mumbai Indians this year. But, he returned to Mumbai as a World Cup winning hero in just two to three months.

Hardik Pandya: The Next T20 Captain for Team India

The Indian captain Rohit Sharma declared his retirement from T20Is, following Virat Kohli’s announcement while receiving the “Player of the Match” award. This enhances the chances of Hardik Pandya to become the new Indian captain in the shortest format of international cricket.

After the T20 World Cup 2024, Hardik Pandya becomes the first Indian to be ranked as the No.1 all-rounder according to the ICC’s rankings.

Ultimately, Hardik Pandya’s comeback story got a happy ending and a new beginning to his career, when the crowd started chanting his name during Team India’s felicitation at the iconic Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. As a result, the visuals left Hardik Pandya emotionally stunned before he got up from his seat to receive appreciation from the fans.

The same crowd a few months back at the same venue booed the all-rounder when he captained the Mumbai Indians team. Hardik’s comeback is a message to the world that when things don’t seem to be favorable don’t react. Rather, the best solution is to just wait for the perfect time to show your talent to the world and prove what you are.
