England vs India first Test: England have won the first Test match against India at Edgbaston by 31 runs after bowling India out for 162. James Anderson took the early wicket of Dinesh Karthik to put India six down.
It was the introduction of Ben Stokes who truly changed the game. After a partnership of 29 Stokes was brought onto bowl by Root and rewarded his captain by taking two wickets in the over, including the key wicket of India captain Virat Kohli.
Adil Rashid took the ninth wicket, trapping Ishant Sharma for 11 via a decision review. Stokes then dismissed Hardik Pandya for his fourth wicket of the innings to seal the victory for England, who now lead the five match series 1-0.
