Australia defeated India

Consecutively for three times, Australia defeated India in the ICC finals in the last seven months. Recently, the Aussies clinched its 4th U19 Cricket World Cup title with a massive win of 79 runs against India on 11th February 2024 (Sunday).

After the loss of the senior men’s cricket team in the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC) and World Cup in 2023 against Australia, the U19 side faced the same fate in the ICC U19 World Cup 2024.

It could have been a possible moment for the young Indian side to take vengeance against Australia for the losses in ICC tournaments in the past 12 months. Unfortunately, Team India had to lose against the Aussies for the 3rd consecutive time in the ICC final.

Similar to the senior men’s cricket team, the young Indian squad also reached the U19 World Cup final. The team led by Uday Saharan achieved an unbeaten winning streak of 6 matches.

Parallel to the 2023 World Cup finals, once again the Aussies won the toss. But, this time they opted to bat first in the finals of the U19 World Cup 2024.

After the defeat, many fans felt that the Australian cricket team was becoming the new arch-rivals of team India.

Once again Australia defeated India in the ICC finals to become the new defending world champions of the multi-format tournaments such as the WTC, ODI World Cup, and U19 World Cup.

Finally, the rescue story turned into a hattrick of blows after Australia defeated India in the ICC finals consecutively in the past seven months.

Since 2003, the senior Indian cricket team’s fortune against Australia hasn’t been great in the ICC finals. It all started when India lost to Australia by 125 runs in the 2003 World Cup finals.

Contrarily, the young Indian cricket team won its previous 6 games against Australia in the U19 World Cup. It included two finals in 2012 and 2018. However, in the 2024 edition, India lost to the same arch-rival.

Ultimately, the Australian U19 team joins their seniors to achieve a glorious record of consecutive wins in the ICC finals. Also, it was another heart-breaking moment for Indian cricket fans within three months.

With this win, the juniors have motivated the Australian senior men’s cricket team to secure victory in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 trophy. The forthcoming tournament will be hosted by two nations namely the West Indies and the USA.
