IPL 2019 Match Preview: M39 – RCB VS CSK: The Royal Challengers Bangalore, who kept their remote playoff chances alive with a 10-run win in their previous match, will be pitted against the Chennai Super Kings
Royal Challengers Bangalore
The franchise is said to have been following protocol and is awaiting a clearance with respect to AB de Villiers, as he missed the previous fixture due to a concussion that he suffered after being hit on the helmet off a Jasprit Bumrah bouncer in the game against MI. “He had a slight concussion due to which he was rested for the game against KKR. He is recovering well and we stay hopeful that he will be able to play against CSK,” RCB chairman Sanjeev Churiwala said.
With Akshdeep Nath not making an impression in the middle-order, RCB could consider handing their INR 5 Crore man Shivam Dube another opportunity.
Probable XI: Virat Kohli, Parthiv Patel, AB de Villiers/Heinrich Klaasen, Moeen Ali, Marcus Stoinis, Akshdeep Nath/Shivam Dube, Pawan Negi, Yuzvendra Chahal, Dale Steyn, Navdeep Saini, Mohammad Siraj
Chennai Super Kings
Dwayne Bravo bowled with a gentler run up than usual in practice with both his hamstrings heavily taped, and also got some batting practice too. MS Dhoni walked out to train an hour after CSK had begun but showed no signs of being restricted by any spasms to his back while batting. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming said a decision on the availability of both Bravo and Dhoni will hinge on how they train on the eve of the game.
CSK’s horse-for-course – Harbhajan Singh – could get back into the side, considering the game-changing effect that the left-handed Moeen Ali had in RCB’s previous fixture.
Probable XI: Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni/Sam Billings, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Deepak Chahar, Dwayne Bravo/Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir
