IPL 2019 Match Preview: M23 – CSK VS KKR: Both teams are coming at the back of convincing wins in their respective previous matches. While the Super Kings defeated Kings XI Punjab on Saturday evening, the Knight Riders breached the Rajasthan Royals’ fortress on Sunday night.
CSK: Ambati Rayudu’s dismal run prompted the think-tank to open with du Plessis and push the India batsman to No. 4. Things are unlikely to change with the hosts expected to go in with the same side that won against KXIP.
Probable XI: Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (c, wk), Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Scott Kuggeleijn, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir.
KKR: Harry Gurney’s man of the match performance in his IPL debut game should keep Lockie Ferguson out of the playing XI. The track should also suit his variations and he’s going to be a valuable addition to an already potent attack troika.
Probable XI: Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik (c, wk), Shubman Gill, Andre Russell, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav, Harry Gurney, Prasidh Krishna
What they said:
“Our balance has been affected because of the injury to Bravo so our options are a little bit limited. Most teams bat down to seven. KKR have batted second time the most, so they’ve chased. What is a good score here? I don’t know. The dew factor caught us by surprise. It’s about reading conditions, assessing and then committing to that. We’ll just do what we normally do. KKR are a good side. It’s not going to change much to what we usually do.” – Stephen Fleming.
