Australia vs India 2018: The first session of the first Test match between Australia and India was won by the former as they scalped four wickets in the session.
Thus, Australia won the first session hands down as India finished 56-4 at the end of the first session. Australian bowlers were right on the money as they were able to hit the right line and length.
In fact, Indian batsmen gifted away their wickets as they chased the ball towards the off-stump. Furthermore, Australia’s catching was up to the mark as Usman Khawaja took a blinder to sent back Virat Kohli. Josh Hazlewood scalped two wickets whereas Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins bagged one wicket each.
Meanwhile, it was a disappointing start from the visitors as they didn’t try to apply themselves. None of the Indian batsmen showed the resistance to fight it out as they gave away their wickets. In fact, all of them perished while attempting to go for the expensive drives.
Josh Hazlewood was able to draw first blood of the day when he sent back KL Rahul. India’s opener continued with his dismal performance. Murali Vijay was the second one to go after his faint edge found Tim Paine’s gloves. Thus, Australian pace openers gave an ideal start to their team.
Meanwhile, Pat Cummins was able to take the big fish out, Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper was aggressive in his approach and went for the cover drive to find Usman Khawaja, who took a meticulous catch.
Consequently, India will like to come back strong in the second session as Australia have put their noses in front.
Brief Scores: India: 56-4, Rohit Sharma 15, Josh Hazlewood: 2-17.
